¡Se acaba la Navidad!

Pasados los Reyes Magos, ¡en Menorca no nos quedamos sin nada que hacer! Y es que aquí no se acaba oficialmente la Navidad hasta la festividad de la "Diada del pueblo de Menorca", el día 17 de enero. El origen se remonta a uno de los hechos más importantes en la historia y la cultura de Menorca. Hagamos una breve introducción:

Allá por el 1286, Menorca estaba bajo dominio musulmán pero, en enero de 1287 el rey Alfonso III de Aragón, El Liberal, encomendándose a San Antón, tomó la isla y la liberó de los árabes. Pobló la isla con gente de la zona de L'Empordà, trayendo con ellos la lengua y algunas tradiciones catalanas, que incluso hoy perduran.

It is one of the most important facts than happened to this island. Let's make a small introduction into this topic:

From the 9TH century until the end of the 13TH, Menorca was under the government of the arabics. It was not until the first month of 1287 that the catalan King Alfons III conquered the island to the Muslims and took them out. The Christian King prayed to St. Anthony in order to be able to get through the walls and free the people of the island. It was exactly the 17th of January of 1287 when he arrived in front of the walls and knocked the doors of it to enter to the city free of Muslims. After that conquest, he repopulated Menorca with catalans from L'Empordà, bringing with them their language and their traditions. Some of them remain now.

La BTT 2016 en Menorca (ciclismo) //the BTT 2016 in Minorca (cycling )

La BTT consiste en un fin de semana dedicado completamente al ciclismo de montaña. Este año (2016) fue la undécima edición de esta competición que ha gustado tanto a los ciclistas. Este acontecimiento tuvo lugar en octubre.

Consta de 3 etapas alrededor del Camí de Cavalls, en las que éste año participaron 500 ciclistas junto a 70 guías voluntarios que de entre todos ellos, 291 que venían de fuera de la isla. El campeón de esta edición 2016 fue Óscar Mogollón.

The BTT consists in a weekend dedicated to the mountain cycling. This year (2016) has been the 11^th edition of this competition. This event was in October.

The event consists in 3 periods around the Horse Trail (Camí de Cavalls), in which this year have participated 500 bikers and 70 voluntaries guides. In total, there were 291 people that weren’t from Minorca. The winner was Óscar Mogillón.
