MONTE TORO

Monte Toro, es el punto más alto de Menorca con 358 metros de altura, desde allí se puede divisar todo el contorno de la isla e, incluso si el día es favorable, se puede llegar a ver Mallorca.

En la cima, además de las geniales vistas, encontraréis el Santuario de la Virgen de Monte Toro, construido en el siglo XVII sobre una iglesia gótica. Dentro del Santuario podemos encontrar una estatua de la virgen tallada en madera.

Hoy en día el santuario pertenece a la orden religiosa franciscana de la Misericordia y está habitado por monjas de clausura.

En la cumbre también encontrareis un cristo (una pequeña versión del Cristo Redentor), una tienda de recuerdos y un bar-restaurante con una terraza que ofrece unas vistas magníficas. 

🚗 Se puede acceder en coche, tres kilómetros desde Mercadal.

🕚 Si queréis asistir a los actos de culto, se desarrollan los domingos y festivos a las 11 de la mañana.

Monte Toro, is the highest point of Menorca with 358 meters high, from there you can see the entire outline  of the island and, if the day is favorable, you can get to see Mallorca.

At the top, in addition to the great views, you will find the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Monte Toro, built in the XVII century on a Gothic church. Inside the Sanctuary we can find a statue of the Virgin carved in wood.

Today the Sanctuary belongs to the Franciscan religious order of Mercy and is inhabitated by cloistered nuns.

At the top you will also find a Christ (a small version of Christ the Redeemer), a souvenir shop and a bar-restaurant with a terrace that offers magnificient views.

🚗 It can be accessed by car, three kilometers from Mercadal.

🕚 If you want to attend the acts of worships, Sundays and holidays are held at 11 in the morning.

BINIBECA VELL

Binibeca vell pueblo pescador

Esta semana vamos a hablar sobre diversos lugares de interés de la isla.  Binibeca Vell es una de las zonas más visitadas. Es una urbanización situada al sureste de Menorca, pertenece al término municipal de San Luis, al oeste se encuentra Cap d'en Font y al este, la Playa de Binibeca.

Fue creado como centro turístico en la década de los 60. Las casas fueron hechas para parecerse al estilo de un pueblo pescador antiguo, de color blancas, con puertas y ventanas azules. Las calles son muy estrechas, como callejones donde perderse y su ambiente es animado tanto de día como de noche. Una vez allí encontraras restaurantes para comer y alguna tienda para comprar algún recuerdo en la entrada del peublo.

¿Cómo llegar?

Llegar desde Mahón, solamente hace falta ir hacia Sant Luís y seguir los carteles.

Llegar desde Ciutadella, tienes que coger la carretera general, hacia Mahón y tomar el desvío hacia Sant Luís, y a partir de allí seguir las indicaciones hasta llegar a Binibeca Vell.

Binibeca vell fishing village

This week we will talk about the various places of interest on the island. Binibeca Vell is one of the most visited areas. It is an urbanization located southeast of Menorca, it belongs to the municipality of San Luis, to the west is Cap d'en Font and to the east, the Binibeca Beach. It was created as a tourist center in the 60s. The houses were made in the style of an ancient fisherman village, white, with blue doors and windows. The streets are very narrow, like alleys where you can get lost and its atmosphere is lively both day and night. Once in the market, restaurants and shops to buy a souvenir at the Peublo entrance. How to get? Arriving from Mahón, you only need to go to Sant Luís and follow the signs. Arriving from Ciutadella, you have to take the main road, towards Mahón and take the detour towards Sant Luís, and from there follow the indications and arrive at Binibeca Vell. SURF EN MENORCA

Menorca es también un buen lugar para practicar surf, sobretodo en época de primavera ya que el agua está perfecta, aún así en invierno es dónde encontramos las olas de más altura. Existen un montón de playas dónde practicar este deporte, en el norte por ejemplo tenemos: Cala Tirant, Cavalleria y Cala Tortuga entre otras,  y en el sur estarían: Son Bou, Binigaus, Punta Prima...

De hecho en Punta Prima es el lugar dónde se celebra el One Punta Prima Day, que es un festival de este tipo de deportes de tabla, no solo surf ya que por si no hubiera olas ese día se practican otros deportes como skate o longboard.

SURF IN MENORCA

Menorca is also a nice place for surf practice, especially in the spring season since the water is perfect, even though in the winter is where we find the highest waves. There are a lot of beaches to practice this sport, in the north for example we have: Cala Tirant, Cavalleria and Cala Tortuga. And in the south we have: Son Bou, Binigaus, Punta Prima...

In fact, Punta Prima is the place where the "One Punta Prima Day" festival is celebrated, which is a festival of this kind of board sports, not only surf, because if there were no waves other sports like skate or longboarding are practiced.

Cómo ya saben una de las actividades típicas en Menorca es ir en busca de setas, en menorquín lo llamamos esclata-sangs, por eso, os vamos a explicar que tipos tenemos y donde buscarlos.

Empezamos por los principales tipos de setas:

EL ROVELLÓN, es una de las principales que busca la gente, la mas apreciada, es una seta totalmente comestible  y se encuentra en los pinares.

LA RÚSULA, es también una de las setas principales, tiene un sabor muy agradable y también es comestible, se encuentra en el encinar.

-El rovellón y la rúscula son los más frecuentes.

¿Te apetece pasar una tarde con los tuyos disfrutando del ballet?

El próximo Domingo día 3 de Diciembre en la Sala Polivalente del Canal Salat, en Ciutadella; a cargo de la Escuela de Danza Carmen Estela.

"El Cascanueces" es un ballet en dos actos basados en un cuento de Amadeus Hoffman, con música de Tchaikovsky i coreografía original de Marius Petipa. Es un cuento muy representado por todo el mundo.

Next Saturday 3rd of December, in the "Sala Polivalente del Canal Salat" in Ciutadella, it will be played a representation of the ballet "The Nutcracker" by the hand of the Escuela de Danza Carmen Estela.

"The Nutcracker" is a ballet in two parts based in a book of Amadeus Hoffman, with the music of Tchaikovsky and the original coreography of Marius Petipa. It is played all over around the world.
