El próximo Domingo día 3 de Diciembre en la Sala Polivalente del Canal Salat, en Ciutadella; a cargo de la Escuela de Danza Carmen Estela.

"El Cascanueces" es un ballet en dos actos basados en un cuento de Amadeus Hoffman, con música de Tchaikovsky i coreografía original de Marius Petipa. Es un cuento muy representado por todo el mundo.

Next Saturday 3rd of December, in the "Sala Polivalente del Canal Salat" in Ciutadella, it will be played a representation of the ballet "The Nutcracker" by the hand of the Escuela de Danza Carmen Estela.

"The Nutcracker" is a ballet in two parts based in a book of Amadeus Hoffman, with the music of Tchaikovsky and the original coreography of Marius Petipa. It is played all over around the world.

Curso de "nanses" en Ciutadella

Si quieren aprender y pasar un buen rato, pueden asistir al curso de nanses para pesca los días 9,15,16,22,23,29 y 30 de noviembre de 17:00 a 19:00 horas. Aunque deben inscribirse previamente en Ciutadella.

Pero ¿Que son ses Nanses?
Es un aparejo de pesca hecho de malla de junco, mimbre, caña etc, que consiste en una pieza en forma de cúpula en base a la que va unida a otra pieza en forma de embudo.

Una forma divertida de pasar el rato y aprender algo tipico de la isla de Menorca.

If you want to learn and have a good time, you can attend the "Nanses" course for fishing on 9,15,16,22,23,29 and 30 November from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.

But what are "ses Nanses"?
It is a fishing tackle made of reed mesh, wicker, cane etc, which consists of a dome-shaped piece on the basis of which it is attached to another piece in the form of a funnel.

A fun way to hang out and learn something typical of the island of Menorca.

Faro de Favàritx

FARO DE FAVÀRITX

Buenas tardes, vamos a terminar nuestra exposición de faros con la visita hacia El Faro de Favàritx. Es un bonito lugar dónde podrás disfrutar de unas puestas de sol estupendas. Además el paisaje es tan árido y peculiar que por momentos te va a parecer que estas en la luna ya que el paisaje es fundamentalmente rocoso.

Good afternoon, we are going to finish our exposure about the Menorcan Lighthouse. The last visit is the Favàritx Lighthouse. It is a magnificient place where you can enjoy stunning sunsets. In addiction to it, the landscape is dry and quircky and you may feel that you're in the moon as the landscape is mostly rocky.

                                                                                                      

 

El faro se construyó en 1922. Para hacerlo se aprovechó la roca de la zona, por eso hoy en día aún podemos ver a escasos metros de él la cantera que se abrió para construirlo.

The Lighthouse was built in 1922. People used to use rock material from the área to build it. That's how nowadays we can still see the quarry opened next to it.

🚗 ¿Cómo llegar?

Si estas en Mahón tan solo tienes que coger la carretera en dirección a Fornells y desviarte en cuanto veas el cartel indicativo del Faro de Favàritx.

Si por el contrario vienes de Ciutadella, la mejor opción es coger la carretera en dirección a Mahón y tomar el Camí d'en Kane en el desvío de Es Mercadal para luego llegar a la carretera de Maó a Fornells.

🚗 ¿How to get there?

If you come from Mahón you just have to catch the main road on the way to Fornells and then follow the signals on the road which lead to Favàritx.

On the other hand, If you come from Ciutadella, the best option is catch the main road m1 on the way to Mahón and then, once in Es Mercadal, catch the road called "Camí d'en Kane" perfectly indicated. Finally you will go srtaight to the road Mahón - Fornells.

¿Sabe que al lado de el Faro hay dos calas muy bonitas para contemplar la inmensidad de la costa norte?
Pues si le sobra tiempo y le apetece realizar otra pequeña excursión puede adentrarse por el camino de caballos justo al lado de la puerta de madera del párking y en unos 20 minutos llegar a Cala Presili (dónde puede incluso bucear)  y seguidamente a Cala Tortuga, dónde se encuentra el parque natural de la Albufera de Es Grau.
Maravilloso, no es así? Pues ya tiene los planes para el próximo Domingo!

Have you ever noticed that next to the Lighthouse there are two Sandy White beaches to contemplate the north coast?
If you have more time and you want to do another short excursión, you can go through the Cami de Cavalls. It is just in front of the parking and in 20 minutes approximatelly yo will arrive to Cala Presili (where you can even practice snorkel) and continuously reach Cala Tortuga in some 15 minutes time. In this área there is also the Natural Park of Es Grau.

FAR D'ARTRUTX

Far d'Artrutx

Buenas tardes!! Ya que el tema es de faros, hoy os explicaremos un poco el far d'artrutx.
El faro está situado unos 8km al sur de Ciutadella, concretamente en la urbanización de Cala'n Bosch. Es un faro que fue construido a mediados del siglo XIX. La principal caracterista de este faro son sus rayas azules y blancas, ya que desde lejos impactan. Cuando construieron el faro, el sistema de iluminación funcionaba con petróleo, y hasta el 1930 no llegó la electricidad.
🚗 ¿Cómo llegar? Muy fácil, si vienes desde Ciutadella, solo tienes que coger la carretera de Cap d'Artrutx hasta el final de la misma.
Y si vienes de otro pueblo, tienes que coger la carretera general hacia Ciutadella, y una vuelta en Ciutadella, coger las mismas indicaciones.

Good afternon!! Since the subject is of lighthouses, today we will explain the lighthouse Artrutx.
The lighthouse is located about 8km south of Ciutadella, specifically in the urbanization of Cala'n Bosch. It is a lighthouse that was built in the mid-nineteenth century. The main characteristic of this lighthouse are its blue and white stripes, since from far they impact. When they built, the lighting system worked with oil, und until 1930 electricity did not arrive.
🚗 How to get? Very easy, if you come from Ciutadella, you just have to take the road from Cap d'Artrutx until the end of it.
And if you come from another town, you have to take the main road to Ciutadella, and take the same directions.

FAR "SA FAROLA" (Ciutadella de Menorca)

El Faro de Sa Farola es el faro más urbano de todos los que hay en Menorca. Situado en el paseo Marítimo de sa Farola tan solo 1 km del centro de Ciutadella es posiblemente el faro más ignorado por todos los que pasan a su lado. Este faro se empezó a construir en el año 1861 y se finalizó e inauguró en 1863. En el año 2013 cumplió 150 años desde su apertura.

 Este faro fue uno de los primeros de todas las baleares en inaugurar el sistema de alumbrado eléctrico, en el año 1918.

Debido a su exposición al mar (es un faro situado a muy poca altura, a 21 metros sobre el nivel del mar, lo que provocaba que las olas entraran dentro del faro a menudo) se decidió construir un muro de protección frente al acantilado. La vivienda que se construyó para el farero de turno sigue siendo todavía en la actualidad la vivienda del responsable del mantenimiento de los 3 faros de Ciutadella (Sa Farola, Punta Nati y Artruix).

The Faro de Sa Farola is the most urban lighthouse of all those in Menorca. Located on the walking of Sa Farola just 1 km from the center of Ciutadella is possibly the lighthouse most ignored by all who pass by. This lighthouse began to be built in 1861 and was completed and inaugurated in 1863. In 2013 it celebrated 150 years since its opening.

This lighthouse was one of the first of all the Balearic Islands to inaugurate the electric lighting system, in 1918.

It is a lighthouse located at very low altitude, 21 meters above sea level, which caused the waves to enter to the lighthouse, it was often decided to build a protective wall in front of the cliff. The house that was built for the shift keeper is still still the dwelling of the person in charge of the maintenance of the 3 lighthouses of Ciutadella (Sa Farola, Punta Nati and Artrutx).

TORRE D'EN GALMÉS

Torre d'en Galmés es uno de los poblados talayóticos más grandes de las Baleares. El poblado se encuentra sobre una colina desde donde se divisa buena parte de la costa sur de Menorca. En la parte más elevada, encontramos los espacios de utilización pública, tales como tres talayotes y el recinto de taula, a la que se le ha caído el capitel. El poblado se extiende hacia la vertiente sur de la colina, donde se encuentran las casas privadas del poblado. Estas eran circulares, con paredes radiales, formando varias habitaciones y que convergían en un patio central con un depósito de agua excavado en el subsuelo. En una de estas casas destaca la llamada sala hipòstila, una habitación adosada hecha con columnas más anchas de arriba que de abajo.

📌  Donde se encuentra el Talayótico? El poblado Talayótico de Torre d'en Galmés se encuentra a un poco más de 5 km al sur de la población de Alaior.

Torre d'en Galmés is one of the largest Talaiotics sites in the Balearic Islands.It is situated on small rise in the ground from where it dominates much of the southern coast of Menorca.On the highest part of the site stands the communal part, wich consists of three talaiots and the Taula enclosure with its capital fallen to the groun. The site runs towards the southern side of the hill, where the private dwellings are found. These buildings are circular, with rooms leading off a central courtyard and an underground water cistern. In one of these houses there is a hipostyle room a semi-detached room  whose roof is supported on columns that are wider at the top than at the base.

📌  Where is the Talayotic? Torre d'en Galmés is just over 5 km south of Alaior.
